Burnt Chopsticks

Robin Berrewaerts

The chopsticks are made of oak wood from a storm fallen tree harvested by the artist in a forest in Keerbergen, Belgium.

These chopsticks present the story of wood that has undergone the transformation of being burnt. The experience of a black surface is physical. The absorption of light draw the eye, the pupil opens and there is a sense of being pulled into the surface. Experiencing form and details before recognizing the material itself.
