This plate is made from patinated copper, tin and Ibota wax, locally sourced by the artists in Tsubame-Sanjo, Japan.

The Meguru (環る) plate is made in collaboration with the community of Tsubame-Sanjo, a Japanese town renowned for over 400 years of metalworking. Members of the community were given identical circular sheets of copper, and similar to calligraphy, molten tin was hand wiped on to the surface of the copper to create unique patterns. By involving the community, including craftspeople, children and the elderly, the plates act as a collective reflection of Tsubame-Sanjo’s circular attitudes centred around locally sourced materials and traditional craft techniques.
