Mountain Plate

Mitch Iburg

345.00

This plate is made from a native, crude earthenware harvested in the redwood forest near Mendocino in California.

Part of Mitch Iburg’s series that focuses on the capacity for a natural material to convey a sense of terroir – the inimitable characteristics of environment, climate, and geological history which produce its unique identity. The pieces reflect this concept on a very literal level by referencing the mountain range where the clay was collected. Each plate possesses a unique topography and sense of landscape which encourages a dialogue between micro and macro environments. Each plate’s topography influences the plating decisions, thus engaging in an unspoken collaboration.
